The long awaited celebration has finally arrived, as Bicol University officially kicks-off this year’s BU Week in celebration of Bicol University’s Golden Founding Anniversary this September 17, with an opening parade, opening dance salvo, and the highly anticipated Hataw mass dance demonstration.

In the said event, BU officials, faculty and non-teaching staff members, alumni members, and students from all seventeen BU campuses gathered in united jubilee in lieu of the Bicol University’s fifty years of glorious existence.

Since the university’s foundation, BU has repeatedly produced quality graduates that contributed greatly in improving the Filipino communities. Thus, Bicol University’s 50th Founding Anniversary was aptly themed: “Building a Legacy, Transforming Lives”.

The opening celebration began with an assembly at the Peñaranda Park in Legazpi City, where the opening parade was set to start. As early as the assembly, each BU office, college and campus exhibited their creativity and talent as they showcase the many Bicolano festivals in their costumes and dance presentations.

The parade ended at the Albay Sports Complex in the BU Main Campus, where students gathered to witness and feature their talents in the art of dance during the BU Week Opening Dance Salvo and the annual Hataw mass dance demonstration.
