BU, RTI International sign MOU on literacy improvement, mother tongue curriculumTuesday February 9,2021
To continuously improve the delivery of curriculum to the College of Education (CE) students in the field of early literacy instruction, RTI International through United States Agency for International Development (USAID) ABC+ Project signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bicol University in collaboration with Florida State University (FSU) on February 3, 2021.
Along with West Visayas State University (WVSU), FSU will strengthen BU’s capacity to develop and deliver the literacy curriculum for pre-service education by providing technical support for the universities’ implementation of Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) and Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) curricula, with special emphasis on the early literacy instruction in the context of DepEd’s Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) program.
The signing ceremony commenced virtually with an introduction delivered by ABC+ Project Program Host Instructional Delivery and Materials Advisor Armida Elaine Trinos followed by an opening remarks by DepEd Region VI Regional Director Ma. Gemma M. Ledesma.
Representing DepEd, Undersecretary and Chief of Staff of the Office of the Secretary Atty. Nepomuceno Malaluan delivered a message followed by USAID Philippines Office of Education Director Dr. Thomas LeBlanc.
The formal virtual signing of MOU proceeded and was capped by a virtual photo session. As new partners, BU President Arnulfo M. Mascariñas and WVSU Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz delivered their messages.
BUCE Dean Dr. Lorna M. Miña presented the initial gains and results. The virtual ceremony concluded with the closing remarks by DepEd V Regional Director Dr. Gilbert T. Sadsad.
