BUCN-CWTS conducts Drug Education and Waste Management forumMonday March 16,2020
Bicol University College of Nursing (BUCN) students under the National Service Training Program (NSTP) - Civil Welfare Training Service (CWTS) attended a seminar on Drug Education and Waste Management at the BUCN Function Hall last December 14, 2019.
Attended by freshmen BS Nursing students, the event commenced with the welcome remarks by NSTP Coordinator Prof. Thaddeus M. Livica followed by the introduction of guest speakers led by BUCN Prof. Rodel Niñofranco.
First guest speaker Gil Castro, Region V Director of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), focused on the Republic Act (R.A.) no. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
On the other hand, Engr. Leonard Villaluz, a representative from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) - Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region V discussed R.A. no. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. He shared documentation and information regarding waste management in the different areas of the province. Afterward, an open forum took place where participants were allowed to ask relevant questions to the speakers.
