Curriculum Quality Audit workshop held for TEI-COEs, SUCs

A three-day Curriculum Quality Audit (CQA) workshop was held for State University and Colleges (SUCs) and Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) on January 14-17, 2018 at the Orchid Garden Suites, Manila sponsored by the Australian-funded Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) program and the Philippine National Research Center for Teacher Quality (RCTQ).

The main goal is to assist partner Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) across the country in revising their teacher education curricula in order to integrate the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) and the recently mandated Policies, Standards and Guidelines (PSGs) for the new teacher education degree programs issued by CHED.

Five of the 10 partner TEIs took part in the curriculum revision workshop; three of which, like BU, are identified as Centers of Excellence in teacher education. These were Cebu Normal University (CNU), Palawan State University (PSU) and Pangasinan State University (PangSU). The other participating SUC was Central Luzon State University (CLSU).

Dr. Lorna M. Miña, Dean of BUCE, together with faculty members Dr. Rosana L. Madrona, Prof. Ma. Cecilia P. Aguilar and Prof. Ma. Cienna A. Jaucian from the Management and Professional Teacher Education Department who represented Bicol University as specialists in the Curriculum Quality Audit (CQA).

The said workshop is the third and last in the series with the two previous workshops, attended by Dr. Miña and Dr. Madrona, focusing on capacitating TEIs on the CQA process. (Ma. Cienna A. Jauncian/BUCE)
