Outstanding studes, orgs, student councils hailed in BU recognition

Reaping the fruits of their hard work, the outstanding students, university and college-based organizations, student council and winners in competitions, were given recognition during the 2017 Bicol University Recognition program held at BUCAL Amphitheate on March 24, 2017.

Christian Lucila and Mark Jason Tan, both Accountancy students of the College of Business Economics and Management (CBEM), received the Outstanding University Students award, Academic Excellence Award, and Dr. Myrna Leona – Audal Award of Excellence. Querobin Gapas, Chemistry student from College of Science, received the Excellence Award and Audal’s Foundation Award in Scholarship.

Likewise, Christian Romano, BS Education student from College of Education, received the Excellence Award and Audal’s Foundation Award in Leadership while Patrick Anthony Nota, Mining Engineering student from College of Engineering took the Excellence Award and Audal’s Foundation Award in Service.

The outstanding student council was given to CBEM CSC while the outstanding college-based organization was awarded to BU - Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants also from CBEM. Meanwhile, the students who won in the different international, national and regional competitions were also recognized.

Anchored on theme “BU@47: Celebrating our Journey of Excellence”, Jasper Tolarba, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, served as the keynote speaker of the annual event. Tolarba, a BU alumnus, is the current Director of Credential Evaluation Services of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools International Inc. Joshua Caleb Pacleta/CPRO
