BU, DILG and LGUs ink MOA on ‘TraBAJO’

The Bicol University College of Business, Economics and Management Entrepreneurship Department in partnership with Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region V launched and inked a Memorandum of Agreement for Training for Better Access to Job Opportunities (TraBAJO) and Local Economic Development for Local Government Units (LGUs) on March 28, 2017 at La Venezia Hotel, Legazpi City

The TraBAJO aims to capacitate target LGUs in formulating their Workforce Development Plan and provide support in preparing their communities develop the necessary skilled workforce requirements of the private enterprises in priority sectors such as Tourism, Agri-business, and Information Technology- Business Process Outsourcing.

The DILG pioneered the Local Economic Development for LGUs which addresses an existing gap in LGU capacities for local economic development through job creation and promotion of pro-poor growth.

With all these, the DILG Region V has established partnership with Bicol University in the implementation of the said projects through capacity building.

The partner LGUs in the Bicol Region are: Albay - Tabaco City, Sto. Domingo, Bacacay, Tiwi, and Malinao; Masbate – Monreal, San Jacinto, San Fernando, Batuan, and Mobo; Sorsogon – Gubat, Barcelona, Irosin, Bulusan, and Matnog; Catanduanes – Bato, Gigmoto, and Baras; Camarines sur – Caramoan, San Jose, and Tigaon; and Camarines Norte – Paracale, Vinzons, and Daet.

Under the MOA, the BU will coordinate with the LGus for the conduct of the trainings. The University will conduct the trainings for TraBAJO and LED will also provide the necessary support to the team and provide the certificate of completion to participants. And provide reports to the DILG.

Likewise, the LGUs will organize the Workforce Development Team/ LED Champion. This shall be comprised of the Tourism Officer/s, Municipality/City Agriculturist, PESO Officer, Municipal Planning Officer, Local Economic and Investment Planning Officer and Municipal Local Government Operations Officer.

As stated in the MOA, “The LGUs will authorize the members of the team to attend the trainings to be conducted and provide the necessary support for the travelling expenses of the members of the WD/LED Team from their locality to the venue of the trainings; and necessary support to formulate workplace development plan, investment and Business Plan, and planning for the conduct of Industry Forum by the WD/LED team; And most importantly, submit the final drafts of the output of the training to BU and DILG.”

Meanwhile, the DILG shall endorse the letter of BU to LGUs in the conduct of various trainings on TraBAJO and LED projects and provide access to the relevant information needed by BU and LGUs for the effective implementation of the trainings.
