BU ARO, BUGAII extend help to 100 affected alumni families
The Bicol University community in collaboration with civic organizations banded to extend support and help students, colleagues, and alumni. Responding accordingly, the Bicol University General Alumni Association (BUGAAI) Inc. conducted a relief operation dubbed as “ Bicol University Giving Assistance to Alumni Initiatives - Holding Hands to Extend Love to Less Privilege'' (BUGAAI-HELP) on December 19, 2020 at Arcilla Hall, BU Tabaco Campus, Tabaco City, Albay. The event helped augment the needs of the identified one hundred (100) severely affected alumni beneficiaries in Tabaco City.
In support of this noble activity, the BU Alumni Relations Office (BUARO) together with the College Alumni Coordinators extended their utmost generosity through validation of identified alumni beneficiaries, coordination with the organizers, distribution of relief packs, and provision of tokens such as toys, used clothing and food packs. Majority of donations were solicited from alumni and the collective efforts of the different colleges, units, and alumni associations of BU.
The donation drives where an outpouring of generosity to respond to the needs of the affected communities using social media as the easiest communication platform. The project was successful in spite of slow network connectivity and limited mobility.
This outpouring of support and initiatives in the light of the successive disasters also pushed various alumni to band together and help consolidate efforts for those in need. Thus, all identified alumni-beneficiaries benefited from the relief operation and nobody left the venue empty-handed. BU Alumni Relations Office is indebted to those who extended their help particularly from College of Nursing, College of Information Technology, College of Science, College of Education, Institute of Architecture, and BU High School respectively.
