BAYANIHAN: PNVSCA join forces with BU to mainstream volunteerism
As part of the integration of volunteerism into the basic and higher education curriculum, the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) partnered with Bicol University (BU) through the National Service Reserve Corp. (NSRC), to take part in strengthening the value of volunteerism in the country.
This collaboration will engage the students, personnel, and alumni in volunteerism-related training, activities, and orientations. BU will also conduct research and studies related to volunteerism, provide technical assistance in mainstreaming this advocacy to local governance, and hasten initiatives to further capacitate BU NSRC.
This partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the Ricardo P. Arcilla Building on January 11, 2024. Present were BU President Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III; Donald James D. Gawe, PNVSCA Executive Director; Prof. Eduard Thaddeus Livica Jr., BU NSTP Director; Atty. Daryl A. Redoblado, University Legal Officer; and James Emmanuel Manuel, BU NSRC Chairperson of NSRC. Dr. Renelyn E. Bautista, Director of the BU Communication and Public Relations Office, facilitated the program.
In his message of commitment, Dr. Nebres ensures to act on every directive in the MOU and its mutual obligations.
“We reiterate our commitment to bringing Bicol University as a University for Humanity beyond the University borders so that we can continue building more bridges, and breaking more barriers for our Bicolano scholars and the rest of our stakeholders,” he added
Meanwhile, Gawe hopes to make volunteerism a way of life for every Filipino to foster compassion for all. | by Arnold C. Noda, MPS-1 BUCPRO
