Bicol University (BU) led the scoreboard among eight other participating State Universities and Colleges (SUC) across Bicol region during the 2020 Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletics Association (SCUAA) Games held last February 5 to 7, 2020.
This year’s Regional SCUAA Games was hosted by Catanduanes State University (CSU) while BU provided the venues for the sports event.
With a total of 374 medals: 117 gold medals, 54 silver medals, and 203 bronze medals, BU asserted dominance among other participating SUC delegates. Landed 2nd place is Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) with a total of 115 medals: 106 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze. 3rd place is CSU with a total of 200 medals: 34 gold, 41 silver, and 125 bronze.
Placing 4th is Sorsogon State College (SSC) with a total of 80 medals: 25 gold, 34 silver, and 21 bronze. 5th place is the Camarines Sur Polytechnic College (CSPC) with a total of 83 medals: 24 gold, 38 silver, and 21 bronze.
Landing on the 6th place are Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) and Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT). On 8th place is the Partido State University (PSU) and 9th place is the Camarines Norte State College (CNSC).
BU has been consistently bagging the championship in different sports event predominantly on the following women’s category: Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Futsal, Takraw, Archery, and Taekwondo. On the other hand, BU also proved dominance on Volleyball (men), Football, Dance Sport (Latin) and Swimming.
Meanwhile, Trixie Colangoy, gold medallist of Futsal sport event, shared their team’s winning advantage for this year’s Regional SCUAA Games.
“The venue was a great advantage because we were already familiar with the BUCENG gym,” she said.
