BU inks MOU with LGU Guinobatan, partner agencies – regional agricultural program

To revitalize the agriculture sector towards wealth creation and entrepreneurship to promote food security and wellness of farmers amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Guinobatan, in partnership with Bicol University (BU) College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), College of Industrial Technology (CIT), College of Science (CS), and College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) along with other government agencies and institutions, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the launching of the Kumikitang Kabuhayan: Gabay-Yaman at Oportunidad sa Agrikultura program at the Republic Colleges Guinobatan Inc. on March 3, 2021.

The program also aims at wealth creation, entrepreneurship, and the effective use of Tech4Ed as a center for multi-stakeholder partnership. The launching commenced with a welcome message from LGU Guinobatan Municipal Agriculturist Stephen Oli followed by the introduction of project proponents and inspirational talk by Municipal Mayor Hon. Ann Y. Ongjoco.

BU President Arnulfo M. Mascariñas, along with representatives from partner government agencies and institutions delivered messages pertaining to the collaboration.

This partnership involves the Albay Provincial Agricultural Services Office, Region V offices of Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, Philippine Coconut Authority, Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, technical Skills Development Authority, Department of Tourism, Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Banco Santiago de Libon – A Rural Bank, and the office of Congressmen Fernando Cabredo.

Afterwards, Tech4Ed Project-in-Charge Municipal Agricultural Services Offices Leilani D. Pavilando discussed the program followed by an open forum and the signing of the MOU of the project.

The event was facilitated by Mary Charity N. Rebua of the LGU Guinobatan.
