BU streamlines process for enrollment; introduces pre-registration for incoming students

May 20, 2024

To enhance the admission and enrollment procedure, Bicol University (BU) has announced the new admission and enrollment guidelines for incoming first-year, undergraduate, foreign students, post-baccalaureate, and graduate students in the university for the school year (SY) 2024-2025.

This includes the process for admitting first-year students for the upcoming academic year, which will be solely based on the BU College Entrance Test (BUCET) results and the Master List Dean’s Copy issued by the Admissions Office.

The university has also announced its course quota and the BUCET cut-off ratings, which are 87.2425% for Board Courses and 84.8935% for non-board courses.

First-years to pre-register online prior enrollment

All incoming first-years are now required to pre-register either Qualified, Waitlisted, and Below Quota applicants.

On May 27-31, 2024, Qualified applicants must pre-register simultaneously in their respective colleges/departments on assigned dates, which will be announced officially through the BU Facebook page.

Their unfilled slots will be automatically awarded to Waitlisted applicants based on rank-listed criteria and course preference, which will be on June 3-7, 2024.

Below Quota applicants will fill up available slots, subject to the college-specific requirements on June 18-21, 2024. In addition, a Below Quota screening process for all colleges and units will be on June 10-14, 2024. Official announcements will also be made by the Admissions Office, through the Communication and Public Relations Office.

For open slots left by the Waitlisted applicants, Below-Quota chancers may receive priority given that (1) their first choice in BUCET is an Open Course and their composite rating qualifies, or (2) they have indicated another course program as their first choice, but will be based on the compliance of the college/unit.

However, pre-registration does not mean automatic enrollment. For all Qualified and Waitlisted applicants who will not be able to pre-register within the announced dates, but appear during the enrollment period, they may still be accommodated, based on availability of slots.

All first-year applicants will also be required to attend the National Service Training Program (NSTP) orientation. For the medical and dental examination, the University Health Services announced the schedule only for those with granted slots, regardless of their BUCET status.

Those applicants with a Failed rating will no longer be eligible to enroll in any course program in all colleges and units of the university.

Enrollment for incoming first-years is scheduled from July 22-26, 2024. For higher years, it will be from July 29 to August 10, 2024, while irregular students, shifters, transferees, returnees, and second coursers will be from August 7-10, 2024. For graduate school, enrollment will start from July 29 to August 10, 2024. | by Arnold C. Noda – IO III, BUCPRO
