BU to lead Social Enterprise Program with local partners
In an initiative spearheaded by the Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) Canaman, Camarines Sur and MPCF Legazpi, in collaboration with the Tabang Bikol Movement (TBM) and Bicol University (BU) a Commission on Higher Education (CHED) approved Research and Development Program (RDE) titled “Developing Social Enterprises for Economic Resilience of Disaster Survivors of Bicol” will be implemented.
This endeavor aims to help disaster survivors in Bicol to be resilient and rebuild themselves by engaging and exposing them to various social enterprise programs.
As a partner state university, BU will be conducting training on Social Enterprise Development, Social Enterprise Start Up and Incubation, food processing, and other technologies which can be offered. Part of the agreement signed was on the use of facilities, training venues, and laboratories.
MPCF and TBM, as the lead institutions, will head the implementation, monitoring and evaluation, including publication of research outputs. Their vehicles, school facilities, and venues will also host social enterprises activities.
CHED has allocated PHP 9,988,566.00 for this operation.The partnership was solidified through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on February 2, 2024, by BU President Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D.
