The Servant Leader

Onto a new century, fifth BU President Dr. Emiliano A. Aberin envisioned Bicol University that “In the 21st Century, BU would have fully emerged as a progressive, outward-looking, and dynamic educational institution that works in strong partnership with other agencies in uplifting the Bicol area socially, economically, and culturally.”

       His leadership strengthened the decentralization of the administrative and fiscal systems. As the university adapts to modernization, Dr. Aberin’s presidency pursued and improved the information, communication, and technology programs and the initiation of a Comprehensive Development Plan. During his presidency, the university was recognized as the Center for Excellence in Fisheries Education and the Center for Teaching Excellence in Teacher Training in 2001.

       Furthermore, the integration of the School of Philippine Craftsmen into the BU Polangui Campus marked an important development during this period, furthering BU’s commitment to education and regional development.
