May 20, 2024

Bicol University (BU) and the Department of Education (DepEd) Masbate have embarked on a collaboration called “PAG-USAD,” aimed at elevating the quality of teaching and learning and the continuous improvement of the instructional supervision in the DepEd Masbate Schools Division Office (SDO), formalized with a Memorandum of Agreement signing at the Lotus Blu Hotel, Legazpi City, on May 8, 2024.

BU, through the Extension Management Division and the College of Education, will collaborate with SDO Masbate and share resources to improve the professional development of teachers – School Heads (SHs) and Master Teachers (MTs).

This is in preparation for the implementation of the Exemplary Leadership and School Governance (ELSG) Academy for SHs (Batch 4) and MTs (Batch 3), which will enhance the ELSG Academy modules.

These include teacher training, mentoring, coaching, and other related technical assistance, curriculum enhancement, the conduct of regular monitoring and evaluation of the entire program and its impact, and provide continuing technical support to MTs and SHs in cascading the technology to their respective schools.

Present in the MOA signing ceremonies were BU President Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III, Dr. Lorna M. Miña – Dean, BU College of Education, Dr. Marcia Corazon P. Rico – Director, BU Extension Management Division, Gilbert Sadsad – DepEd V Regional Director, Maria Magnolia F. Brioso – Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, DepEd SDO Masbate, Christopher I. Alvarez – Senior Education Program Specialist, and other invited officials and guests.

By focusing on teacher development, curriculum enhancement, and innovative teaching methods, the program aims to create a more effective and engaging learning environment for both students and teachers. | by Arnold C. Noda – IO III, BUCPRO
