
Regional RandD Cluster spearheads aquatic-centered conceptualization write-shop
To address the need to have more Aquatic-centered research in the region, a two-day Aquatic R&D Conceptualization Write-shop kicked-off on August 18, 2022, with six (6) Consortium Member Institutions (CMIs) of the Bicol Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (BCAARRD).
Among the attendees were the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources V – Regional Fisheries R&D Center (BFAR V-RFRDC), Bicol University (BU), Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa, Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT), and Partido State University (ParSU).
The write-shop was headed by the Regional R&D Cluster Coordinator, Prof. Ronnel R. Dioneda, Sr. He also presented the Call for Proposals (Ref. No. 2022-05) of the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Aquatic Resources (DA-BAR).
Meanwhile, BCAARRD Director, Dr. Marissa N. Estrella expressed her gratitude during the event for the presence of the participants. She also presented the Science for Change Programs of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD).
The co-chair of the Bicol Fisheries RD&E Network – Technical Working Group (BIFERDEN-TWG), Mr. Ezer L. Quezon, presented their institution’s RD&E Thrusts and Priorities.
These presentations highlighted the mentioned institutions as possible funding agencies for the proposals that will be conceptualized during the event.
After the presentations, the participants were divided into different groups and each focused on different commodities. The presentations of the conceptualized proposals were shared and critiqued by the participants.
The write-shop, held at AVP Catering Services Hall, Legazpi City, ended with the commitment of the Consortium and its CMIs to continue responding to more Aquatic-centered research. (Julianne Nicolle G. Moral, SRA, BCAARRD)
