BU Launches First International Literacy DaysFriday September 14,2018
With the theme “Literacy and Skills Development,” Bicol University launched the celebration its first ever International Literacy Days last September 11 and 12, 2018.
The first day of the event started off with a foot parade from the BU College of Education (BUCE) grounds to BU College of Nursing (BUCN) Amphitheatre where the opening program began thereafter.
Dr. Rebecca Rosario O. Bercasio, the BU Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) Director, lead the opening remarks where she shared the history of the International Literacy and welcomed its celebration to the university.
Selected students from different colleges of BU, as well as from the Elementary and High School level, represented their respective departments in different competitions which happened simultaneously at the BUCN Amphitheatre and BU High School Library.
Competitions for the students from the Elementary Department were Short Story Retelling and Essay Writing (Filipino). As for the High School students, competitions were Short Story Writing, Impromptu Speaking, and PowerPoint Presentation Making. From the College Department, students competed for Short Story Writing, Infographic Making, and Spoken Word Poetry. (Faculty-in-charge: Ms.Chezzeka D.
